When Larry Evans asked me to direct Katie's Dog, I was naturally interested in the project with its themes of discord and allegiance. And Larry had already cast the film, which might have bothered me except that he had cast himself and Susannah Hough.
I knew that the two of them would do a fantastic job carrying the film; Susannah was a lead in Turnip's earlier film, Endings.
The other appealing element was the dog! The dog was played by Rin, a docile German Shepard.
Jonathan King played Zachary, a character who was engaged to marry Katie. And they were already living together, with her dog. Rachel McKay plays Maggie, Zachary's new partner, with whom he will be leaving town, offering the dog back to Katie's parents.
